Cupid’s Quiver by Doreen DeSerres

Aphrodisiacs of the World

Since the flowering of ancient civilization, love philtres, aphrodisiacs and body unguents have been embraced as stimulants for the passions of the body, mind and soul.  The relationship between the olfactory and the sexual senses is embedded in ancient societal instincts.

Many love philtres are botanical aphrodisiacs.  These stimulating potions empower physical prowess and desires.  Many cultures through out the world use these potions and charms that are thought to cause a person to fall in love.

The Turkish people place great faith in many perfumes as adjuncts to sexual desire and potency.  They have traditionally worn perfumes in the hair, on garments and anointed parts of the body.  It is believed within Arabic cultures that four parts of the body should be perfumed: the nose, the mouth, the armpits and the pudendum (genitals).

In India, “Kama” (love, pleasure) is enhanced with aromatic spices to sweeten the breath and heighten sensory awareness.  As a tonic uplift, coriander seeds have played an important role.  Seeds of cardamom, nutmeg and cloves also stimulate and heighten sensation.

Cupid’s Quiver is a flavorful edible love potion containing pure botanical extracts of vanilla, clove, coriander, nutmeg, ginger, mandarin and frankincense.  This sensuous aphrodisiac blend incorporates the positive traits of each ingredient. The blend is rubbed onto the body to increase vitality and enhance pleasure through aromatics and physical stimulation.

The aroma of perfumes has traditionally been associated with love and emotions in the Greek and Oriental cultures.  Another Nature’s Spirit product, Very Sweet, Very Sensuous is a blend that contains the flowery essences, Ylang Ylang and Neroli. It is a euphoric vitalizing aphrodisiac.

Scents of Survival and Peace of Mind

by Doreen DeSerres

Aromatic essences evoke memories, feelings and actions.  Awakening the senses to an array of botanical delights can assist in our positive mindset.

Memories-Oh yes, so much to remember.  Rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis) essential oil will produce noradrenaline in the brain that invigorates the thought process and gets us in gear to accomplish the day’s desires.  Rosemary is known for remembrance and mental stimulation.  Remember the joys of the holidays, the blessings in our lives as well as all that we need to do to keep our lives running smoothly.  We can activate our minds to stimulate needed action to accomplish our tasks and allow time to relax.

Lovely Lavender (lavendula angustifolia) soothes and calms.  Seretonin is activated in our brains through the inhalation of this precious botanical.  The scent of true lavender will calm the mind, soothe the senses and reduce tension.  Often just the smelling of this peaceful scent will let one be more of the moment amidst the frenzy of activities.  We can actually be more productive in our busiest of times when we stop to take a breath of air-especially in an atmosphere enhanced with true essential oils to create well being.

Bergamot (citrus bergamia) is a pleasant citrus scent that cleanses the air, helping to reduce air born toxicities and bacteria that often pollute through means of out gassing chemical substances, germs and diseases traveling via wind and storms.  Not only does bergamot enhance health, the scent actually vitalizes us by regulating and balancing the hypothalamus by means of various forms of “brain regulation”.

Let’s remember our sensual side, time for ourselves to let loose the endorphins with the help of ylang-ylang (cananga odorata) to create joy.  Whether as a pure perfume to lift the spirit, or as an aphrodisiac to be shared with your lover.  These flowers evoke a stimulation of the mind that often helps induce euphoria.

Pure botanical scents in the concentrated form of essential oils begin or extend many joyous happenings.  Beginning at only $5.00 for a dram of pure lavender to $12.00 a dram for ylang-ylang the prices are small and the values are great!

There are numerous ways to create an atmosphere of well being by using essential oils, such as in a clay light bulb ring, in the bath or in a base to anoint or massage the body.  Treat yourself to a reward of essential oils for all your hard efforts this holiday season.  Pure, all natural, organic botanical essential oils make wonderful healthy gifts for family, friends, teachers and students and should be included in all holistically minded first aid kits for practical application.  Nature’s Haven, at 602 Brevard Avenue in Cocoa Village, is offering a free workshop for any and all interested in learning about the great variety of ways to use and share the blessings of true aromatherapy.  Please call Doreen at (321) 632-1221 if interested and for more information.

There are many factors relating to the amounts of botanical essential oil to use for desired effect such as:

·        Personal taste that makes your home unique and special.

·         Type of oil (some are more fragrant than others)

·        Are there competing ‘aromas’, such as a husband that just came in from tending the garden or some ‘science project’ shoes from the kids?

·        The number of people that may be attending your party, meeting or event.

·        The size of the space to be conditioned and the content of the room, closet or cabinet space.

·        The relative degree of aromatizing in relation to purpose; for instance, you may wish for a gentle scent to create a comfortable atmosphere for reading a special book yet wish for a strong spicy atmosphere for entertaining guests during the holidays.

·        Your brand new car with all the unhealthy plastic smells might need more healthy natural oils than a car that has been satisfactorily aired out.  You may wish for Rosemary, with it’s invigorating qualities, in the early morning drive to work and then something calming like Sandalwood to relieve the stress, during the congested ride home.

All these factors mentioned above can enrich your life and provide pleasant aromatherapy in your own home and car for the holidays and year round!
